Trainer

Steven Eerdekens

My career started about 20 years ago at Telindus. Throughout the years I gained experience working as a consulting engineer at a major ISP and two integrators. In 2006 I redirected my focus completely on network security.

As a security presales consultant/architect I designed and implemented various security setups, using solutions such as Palo Alto Networks, Checkpoint, Radware, Mcafee, Juniper, Barracuda, Bluecoat, and Cisco.

I started configuring Palo Alto firewalls in 2008, at the very beginning when Palo Alto launched their solution in Europe. I performed some major migrations from other firewall products to this nextgen security platform. In 2011 I was the one of the first engineers in Europe who acquired a CNSE (now PCNSE) certification.

At Exclusive Networks I’m focused on the portfolio of several vendors, among them are Palo Alto and Gemalto.

I’m a certified Palo Alto trainer for a few years now, teaching the EDU-201 and EDU 205 firewall trainings, and recently also the EDU-281 TRAPS course.

Secure your Network and Mobile Users

by integrating Palo Alto Networks & Aruba Networks | Wednesday 14 June

Users today expect to access their corporate networks from personally- and enterprise owned mobile devices used at locations both inside and outside the corporate walls. While the corporate workforce is increasingly roaming away from the office, an ecosystem of contractors, consultants, and visitors needs network access inside the office.

This “anytime, anywhere workplace” is driving productivity gains and fostering innovation. The downside is that it’s also creating serious IT security challenges as managers struggle to provide differentiated access based on user, device-type, application, and location.

Traditional port and protocol-based security architectures focus on attacks directed from the outside in, erecting port and IP-based defences like a moat at the network’s edge. This approach assumes that devices and users inside the network are trusted, and does not further scrutinise how the workforce is using the network across user types by time, day, or location. Port and protocol-based security policies are coarse, allowing access to open ports without consideration for the user’s identity, the device type, or the application in use.

In short, the current defences are inadequate for today’s “anytime, anywhere workplace”. That’s where where Aruba Networks & Palo Alto Networks can help you by delivering an integrated security solution tailored for your mobile users.

During our lunch & learn seminar of June 14 we will handle the following topics:

  • Enforce IT policies across all users, devices, applications, and locations
  • Enable safe use of corporate-, employee-, and guest-owned mobile devices and Internet of Things machines
  • Protect both corporate and guest Wi-Fi networks
  • Identify all traffic by user, device and application for full visibility and control of network resources
