Exploit in Java logging library (Log4j) – Rubrik Can Help
The Log4j vulnerability is top of mind for every one of our customers right now. We believe this is an opportunity to support your customers. Did you know Rubrik can help?

• For the latest information, encourage customers to contact or reference the Rubrik Support Portal [mkto.rubrik.com]. Customers may need to upgrade to get the latest Rubrik Patch (depending on version).
• We index everything we back up, and thus can search for the vulnerability library to determine which systems have it right away. Here’s a blog article [mkto.rubrik.com] by Jake Robinson on how to do it via the API.
• It is possible this vulnerability has already had an exploit attempt in their environment. We can create a custom rule in our Sensitive Data Discovery tool that can scan for exploitation attempts in their log files. This tool has the added bonus of cataloging where sensitive data is located and the associated permissions in case threat actors were able to take advantage of that exploit and exfiltrate data from the environment, so you’ll know what might have been impacted.
• It would be helpful to know when the exploit attempts started and what they were doing. Rubrik can crawl through the backup images and search for those indicators of compromise using YARA rules, file patterns, or file hashes.
