TTPs

TTPs, or Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures, refer to the specific methods used by cyber threat actors to plan and execute attacks.

Understanding TTPs is crucial for threat intelligence and cybersecurity defence as they provide insights into the behaviour and patterns of attackers.

  • Tactics: The high-level goals or objectives that threat actors aim to achieve, such as gaining initial access to a network or exfiltrating data.
  • Techniques: The general methods or approaches used to accomplish the tactics, like phishing, exploiting software vulnerabilities, or using malware.
  • Procedures: The specific, detailed steps and sequences of actions taken by attackers to implement techniques, such as the exact configuration of a phishing email or the particular commands used to exploit a vulnerability.

By analysing TTPs, cybersecurity professionals can better predict and detect attacks, develop effective defence strategies, and respond more effectively to security incidents.
