Antivirus

Antivirus software is a critical component of cybersecurity for both individual and enterprise systems.

It’s designed to detect, prevent, and remove malicious software, commonly known as malware, which includes viruses, worms, trojans, and other harmful programs. Antivirus programs employ various detection methods, such as signature-based detection, heuristic analysis, and behaviour monitoring, to identify and mitigate threats.

Signature-based detection compares files against a database of known malware signatures, while heuristic analysis examines code to identify suspicious behaviour patterns. Behaviour monitoring watches for unusual activity in real-time. Modern antivirus solutions often integrate with other security measures, providing a comprehensive defence strategy. They can perform scheduled scans, real-time protection, and automatic updates to stay current with the latest threats. In an IT environment, antivirus software is essential for maintaining system integrity, protecting sensitive data, and ensuring network security.
