ZTNA - Zero Trust Network Access

Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) is a security framework that grants access to applications and data based on strict identity verification and continuous authentication, rather than trusting users or devices by default.

ZTNA operates on the principle of "never trust, always verify," ensuring that users are only given access to the specific resources they need and nothing more. Unlike traditional VPNs that provide broad network access, ZTNA minimises risk by limiting access to individual applications rather than entire networks.

Key features of ZTNA include:

  • Verifying users and devices before granting access
  • Limiting access to specific applications, not the whole network
  • Continuously monitoring and assessing trust levels

 Implementing ZTNA involves:

  • Using identity and access management (IAM) solutions
  • Enforcing least privilege access policies
  • Monitoring network activities for threats

ZTNA enhances security by reducing the attack surface and ensuring that users only access resources they are explicitly authorised for.
