Netskope introduces Borderless SD-WAN

JOHANNESBURG – December 15, 2022 – Security transformation doesn’t succeed without network transformation. The two go hand-in-hand when it comes to building the secure access service edge (SASE) architecture of the future. With this in mind, Netskope, a leading company in Security Service Edge (SSE) and Zero Trust, has announced the introduction of Netskope Borderless SD-WAN.

Sanjay Beri, Chief Executive Officer at Netskope, explains that if security degrades the network experience, or the network experience bypasses security, each of those trade-offs introduces more risk to the enterprise. However, he says, it doesn’t have to be that way.

Writing in a recent blog entry, he notes: “With hybrid work now the new normal in every business, it’s no surprise that those businesses want to work with technology providers that can credibly address both security and networking transformation requirements without adding complexity.”

Beri explains that according to Gartner, by 2024 80 percent of SD-WAN deployments will incorporate security service edge (SSE) requirements, up from less than 25 percent in 2022. SASE is the convergence of wide area networking, or WAN, and network security services into a single, cloud-delivered service model. This prediction from Gartner, he notes, underscores the importance of future purchasing decisions for secure access service edge (SASE) procurement, which converges networking and security.

Beri continues that with this in mind, Netskope has acquired Infiot, and with it, the introduction of Netskope Borderless SD-WAN. This is in response to demand from enterprises that want to extend the same secure access and application assurance employees enjoy at the corporate office to the widest range of hybrid work use cases.

He explains: “Disparate technologies – such as remote access, SD-WAN, 4G/5G, and multi-cloud – must work together, but that gets very complicated both from an end user and from an IT operations perspective. The result, which we often see, is fragmented architecture that leaves teams unable to apply uniform security or quality-of-experience (QoE) policy across all users, devices, sites, and clouds.

“…Bringing together the capabilities of both Borderless SD-WAN and Netskope Intelligent SSE means Netskope has a fully converged SASE platform, which provides AI-driven zero trust security with simplified, optimised connectivity to any network, location, or device. For customers, all of these capabilities are delivered in a single architecture and platform, using one policy framework, one common global high performance and available NewEdge network (and where desirable a single agent), which dramatically simplifies operations for thinly stretched networking and infrastructure teams.”

Netskope has been in partnership with value-added distributor Exclusive Networks Africa, throughout the continent, since 2021.

Stefan van de Giessen, Exclusive Networks Africa Country Manager: SA and SADC, adds: “We congratulate Netskope on this new development. By bringing together zero trust security with network optimisation, Netskope Borderless SD-WAN provides secure, high-performance access to every remote user, device, site and cloud. It also simplifies the on-boarding of traffic to the Netskope Security Cloud and NewEdge network – its globally distributed private cloud network, which serves as the network foundation for the Netskope platform, as well as an enabler for current and future Netskope capabilities.”
