Secure Service Edge (SSE)

Secure Service Edge (SSE) is a cloud-based security framework that focuses on delivering essential security services to protect access to the internet, cloud services, and private applications.

It is a subset of the broader Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) architecture but focuses solely on the security components. SSE combines key technologies like Secure Web Gateway (SWG), Cloud Access Security Broker (CASB), and Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) to provide a unified security solution for organisations with remote or hybrid workforces.

Key components of SSE include:

  • Secure Web Gateway (SWG) for filtering web traffic
  • Cloud Access Security Broker (CASB) for securing cloud apps
  • Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) for secure access to private apps

Implementing SSE involves:

  • Deploying cloud-based security services to protect user access
  • Enforcing security policies for data protection and compliance
  • Continuously monitoring and managing security risks

SSE enables organisations to secure remote access, cloud applications, and internet use, ensuring robust, scalable security for modern network environments.
