Thales Snapshot

Thales is a global technology leader with more than 77,000 employees on five continents. The Group is investing in digital and “deep tech” innovations – Big Data, artificial intelligence, connectivity, cybersecurity, and quantum technology – to build a future we can all trust.

More than 30,000 organizations already rely on Thales solutions to verify the identities of people and things, grant access to digital services, analyze vast quantities of information and encrypt data.

In early 2019, Thales acquired the international security company Gemalto and combined it with their existing digital assets to create a new leader in digital security. And in 2022, Thales acquired OneWelcome, a leading CIAM platform for Customer Identity & Access Management. Thales is now able to serve not only employees but also consumers, enterprise customers, business partners and all other external users.

In 2023 Thales reached an agreement with Thoma Bravo, a major software investment firm, for the acquisition of 100% of Imperva, a leading US-based data and application cybersecurity company. With this acquisition, Thales is taking its cybersecurity business to the next level. Imperva will enable growth in data security and Thales’ entry into the attractive application security market.

Exclusive Networks’ relationship with Thales dates to 2005 when we accompanied Aladdin Knowledge Systems, SafeNet, and Gemalto through acquisition, now all part of Thales Cloud Protection and Licensing (Thales CPL). Since then, our sales have grown year on year, along with our team.

The Thales Portfolio

Thales Core solutions, products and services fall into 2 broad categories:

Data Security

As data breaches continue with regularity and compliance mandates get more stringent, organizations need to protect sensitive data in both on-premises and cloud environments. Thales advanced data discovery, encryption, key management, secrets management, hardware security modules (HSM), data protection, ransomware protection, and secure file sharing solutions enable customers to protect and remain in control of their data wherever it resides – across cloud, on-premises, and hybrid IT environments.

Access Management

Every digital interaction begins with identity. Thales helps build trusted identity and access management for customers and employees. Access Management protects applications and the data behind them by ensuring the right user has access to the right resource at the right level of trust. Access Management can make life easier for workers, hiring managers, IT teams, and CISOs.

Thales for GSIs

Data means power in today’s modern data economy. That’s why knowing where your data resides, where it’s flowing, and who has control over it is critical.

‘Data sovereignty’ means maintaining control over encryption and access to your data, which plays precisely to Thales’ strengths. This ensures sensitive data doesn’t fall into the hands of a foreign entity without express permission, resulting in non-compliance with data sovereignty laws by country.

But the rise of cloud services, multi-cloud environments, a changing geopolitical landscape and new regulations that affect control of data have prompted more recent concerns around ‘digital sovereignty’ – the right of nations, organizations, and citizens to have control over their digital autonomy as well as their data.

And its stimulated growth in the range of solutions, and solution providers, that look to address two critical concerns under the umbrella of ‘sovereign cloud’:

Cloud’s overlapping legal jurisdictions:

Most cloud hyperscalers are incorporated in the United States and are subject to US law, which creates conflicts when it comes to data protection.

Cloud’s boundlessness:

Because data in the public cloud can be stored, queried, and analyzed across borders, organizations risk breaching local or regional data residency and protection laws.

A sovereign cloud ensures all data, including metadata, stays on sovereign soil and prevents foreign access to data under all circumstances. It provides a trusted environment for storing and processing data that can never be transferred across borders and must remain under one jurisdiction.

To support the adoption of sovereign cloud, many organizations are turning to Global Systems Integrators (GSIs) for sovereign cloud best practices thanks to their multi-vendor partnerships and expertise. With Thales encryption and access management solutions, GSIs are not only helping customers to unlock the benefits of the cloud, such as agility, and automation, but also helping to protect and unlock the value of their customers’ critical data. This in turn promotes innovation in society through secure digital technologies.
